Ben and Chloe working in their kitchen lab

We don’t just cook. We question, we test, we perfect.

Great food isn’t about secret ingredients; it’s about understanding the process. Welcome to our lab.

It Started With a Question: “Why?”

Like you, we were tired of recipes that didn’t work. “Cook until golden brown” isn’t a temperature. “A pinch of salt” isn’t a measurement. We knew there had to be a better way. We were two geeks—Ben with a background in design engineering and Chloe with a passion for food science—frustrated by the lack of precision in the culinary world.

So, we turned our Manchester kitchen into a lab. We started asking “why”. Why does reverse searing produce a more tender steak? What is the exact hydration percentage for the perfect sourdough crumb? The Kitchen Geeks was born from this obsession: a mission to strip away the guesswork and empower every home cook with the data and techniques to achieve repeatable, brilliant results.

The Geek’s Code

Data-Driven

Temperatures, times, weights, and percentages are our love language. We replace ambiguity with hard numbers so you know exactly what to do and why.

Repeatable Results

A great recipe should work every time, in any kitchen. Our protocols are tested and re-tested to ensure they are robust and reliable.

Uncompromising Honesty

Especially in our reviews. We buy our own gear. We run objective tests. If a product is great, we’ll show you the data. If it’s hype, we’ll prove it.

The Hardware Geek

With a background in engineering, Ben is the one who takes the gadgets apart. He’s obsessed with build quality, user interface, and finding the most efficient tools for the job. He leads our testing protocols and a quest for the perfect espresso shot.

The Software Geek

Chloe treats recipes like code. With her roots in food science, she reverse-engineers classic dishes. She develops our recipes, focusing on the chemistry of flavour and texture to create foolproof “software” for your kitchen.

Enough about us. Let’s start cooking.
